To whom it may concern,

Enclosed you will find information regarding recent events that pertain to the operation of vending machines on state property.

John Gordon is Chairman of the Illinois Committee of Blind Vendors, a Committee who represents blind business people in Illinois . On April 12, 2004 ,  Mr. Gordon began a pilgrimage from Chicago to Springfield . He walked over 200 miles in eight days in an effort to bring attention to state agencies that do not comply with Illinois State Law 2420.

State Law 2420 provides that blind business people have the preferential right  to operate vending operations on state property.

As a result of Mr. Gordon’s journey, a statement was released from Governor Blagojevich’s office. Governor Blagojevich said he is in support of State Law 2420, and it is the responsibility of each agency to comply.

If you have any questions regarding State Law 2420, or if we can help in any way to ensure that your agency is in compliance, please contact me.

Thank you,

Kevin Dwyer
